Object history
This was the largest drawing Collier ever painted. It was the result of a special commission from one of the artist's patrons, and its exceptional size was accounted for by the fact that it was destined to fill a particular place in his drawing room. (Excerpt from The Yorkshire Post, 28th February, 1923).
