Mother of pearl relief depicting the Virgin & Child, France, early 17th century
Physical description
Circular mother of pearl relief depicting the Virgin & Child. The Virgin crowned is seated on a wooden bench with the naked Child on her lap. A plain circular border runs around three quarters of the relief with the words 'S.MARIA MATER DEI.' The relief is pierced with two holes, one at each side. It is slightly chipped on the right hand edges.
