Object history
Mirko Bravi, winner of the Josiah Wedgwood Bicentennial Award, 1995. The dish is one of a limited edition of 5. A smaller version was produced in an edition of 500.

Wedgwood provided the following information regarding the objects manufacture: "The shell is fired to a biscuit temperature of 1230°C with a four hour soak - each shell supported by a specially designed clay former to hold shape. It is hand dipped in a low solubility glaze and is then further fired to a glost temperature of 1045°C. Only one mould was made from the model* (*made at Barlaston). The mould is in 9 parts, weighs approximately 90 kilos; the dimensions of the mould are 540mm x 540mm x 400mm and two men are involved in the casting of each piece."
