Walter Alfred Slaughter (1860-1908) was a composer of comic opera and musical comedies in Victorian England. His most notable successes included his production collaborations with Basil Hood (1864-1917), as in this musical 'Orlando Dando, the Volunteer'.

Physical description

Cast taking curtain call: eleven actresses with flowers in their hair, wearing togas attended by three ornately dressed boys in red, gold and green uniforms. In the foreground, seven elderly men in formal dress (with monocles and top hats) bow in admiration. A bouquet of flowers is laid at the actresses' feet.
