Marionette of a peasant woman with carved and painted wooden face, legs and shoes. She has a carved jointed wooden torso and papier maché hands, the fingers made over a wire and fabric armature. She wears a headscarf, patterned in brown, orange, beige, yellow, white and green, and a yellow cotton blouse over which is a black stockingette jacket trimmed with yellow Russia braid. She has a black and white striped cotton sash and a calf-length olive green skirt of a light wool fabric which has suffered moth damage. She has a multi-coloured cotton petticoat and her legs and shoes are painted black. Without strings or controls
