Gallery label
‘Selling Dreams: One Hundred Years of Fashion Photography’, 2014. Label text: Deborah Turbeville (b.1938) Wedding Dresses Unpublished photograph for Vanity Fair 1984 This unpublished photograph provides a striking contrast to conventional images of wedding fashions, which depict happy brides in luxurious surroundings. The derelict interior creates a haunting atmosphere. As is typical of Turbeville’s work, the stiffly posed models appear to be unaware of one another, fragile and detached.
