Physical description

Black and white photograph depicting the cultural impresario and founder of the New York City Ballet, Lincoln Kirstein. He is seated with his back to a wall of mirrors, in which a ballet class with approximately a dozen dancers is reflected. There is also the edge of a piano visible and another man on the edge of the picture plane who looks expectantly at Kirstein's face. Kirstein looks stern in a dark coloured suit, resting his chin on one hand.
