Salmon-pink/brown dress for Toinette designed by Wilhelm in La Camargo, London Coliseum, 1912. Pink-brown striped silk brocade imitation C18th dress with green and pink floral decoration on the stripes. The boned bodice is joined in the front with a false stomacher over which there is decorative brown and yellow lacing ribbons. The overskirt hangs in a polonaise or retrusee manner, fastened at the back of the skirt. It was worn with a brown petticoat/underskirt which had stiffening on each side to insert into the folds of the overskirt.

Object history | Costume for Toinette worn by Lillie Lauri in the ballet 'La Camargo' performed at the London Coliseum, May 20th, 1912. The music for the ballet was composed by Dora Bright, and the production was designed and produced by C Wilhelm. The scenery was painted by Joseph Harker , and the costume were made by Miss Hastings and Morris Angel. Adeline Genée starred as Mlle Camargo, Alexis Kosloff performed the role of Gerard Van Staaden, and Jack Millar appeared as King Louis XV of France. The ballet was presented by Oswald Stoll. |
