Print from same negative as PH 457-1968:106 (D.41). 76 x 143 mm (stereoscopic) PH 457-1968:25 Literature: Microfilm: 3.19.31 This print shows the (accidental) 'phenomenon of edge reversal, known to scientists as the Sabattier effect [ … ]. When a sensitive emulsion that has been developed, but not fixed, is exposed to naked light and developed again, the image shows a reversal of tones wherever there is a sharp edge. A print from such a negative has its contours rimmed with black lines. The process is generally known in artistic circles as solarization [ … ].'
