Vitzthum in a review of Briganti in Master Drawings, I, 1963, p. 50 The drawing corresponds closely with the painting in the Accademia in Venice, formerly in the Venetian church of S. Daniele. This exact resemblance suggests a copy. But the handling is very close to Cortona and the drawing may well be a modello for the picture, as Briganti states. Vitzthum considers it a copy.
