Object history | Published in Now! Magazine. The house was designed to incorporate engery saving materials and equipment within a circular structure built on a central flue, the first floor having a rotating outer ringwith large windows allowing maximum absorption of the heat and light from the sun, and the roof being steeply pitched and covered with a straw-based insulating 'thatch.' It and other similar houses would be sited in land yielding a plentiful supply of fuel-wood, fruit and vegetables. |
