The painting may be dated 1567 (see H. Olsen, Barocci, Copenhagen, 1962, p. 149, no. 16, pl. 22). There is a similar drawing in the National Gallery of Scotland, listed as a copy after Barocci in Andrews, Catalogue, 1, p. 13, D.4890-48, and fig. 116.
