Leaf 5 (pages 9 and 10) from a sketchbook of drawings started in 1824;

Displayed in mount to show page 9 - a woman reclining against a tree in the foreground, with a bible beneath her left hand, looking out across a hilly landscape. The scene features: a woman carrying two pails on a yoke; two men with scythes; a church spire; woodland; birds in flight; with fields beyond, rays emanating from over the horizon.

On the verso (page 10) are a number of sketches, including a man reclining in a garden with large trees and flowers, surrounded by smaller drawings of landscapes with a variety of trees and gardens, complete with annotation.
