Mark of John Chartier
This head was originally attached to a bamboo staff with brass ferule. Engraved with the arms of Thomas Tufton, Earl of Thanet and formerly in use at Skipton Castle, Yorkshire. He lived in great splendour in Thanet House, Blooksbury, and a liveried porter guarded his door.
