The south front of Houghton Hall, Norfolk
Etching and engraving from Vitruvius Britannicus, vol 111, 1725

Houghton, built for Sir Robert Walpole, was designed in 1721 but not completed until after 1735, after Campbell's death. The pedimented towers shown in this print were then given baroque domes by James Gibbs instead. The house itself is a four square mass incorporating a single cube hall fitted out in imitation of that of the Inigo Jones's Queen's House. The corner towers are clearly derived from Wilton House.
