Physical description

‘Street at Saverne’, one of the 'Twelve Etchings from Nature' by James Whistler, also called 'The French Set'. 1858. Published in London by Whistler at 62 Sloane Street and in Paris at Imprimerie Delâtre, Rue St. Jacques 171. Signed in plate by the artist. Night scene of a town in Alsace. View of a street by moonlight, with deep shadows in the doorways and windows in contrast to the bright illumination of a streetlamp and moonlight.
