This bronze plaquette and others like it are thought to have been cast from an intaglio by the great engraver Valerio Belli. In1942 the Museum acquired an unsigned rock crystal intaglio (inv.no. A.23-1942) which appears to be the source for the group of plaquettes.

Elliptical bronze plaquette with a moulded rim depicting the Judgment of Paris. Paris, leaning against a tree on the right, is bending forward handing the apple to Venus, at whose feet is Cupid. In the centre is Minerva and behind her Juno.
