Satirical print showing Napoleon I in coronation robes, holding a sword of state marked 'Gloire et Despotisme Double Invasion' and with a heart on a chain around his neck marked 'Roi de Rome'; behind him is an eagle on a cloud. On the left is Napoleon III, his head hung in shame, with balls and chains attached to his feet. Behind him is an eagle, chained to a post and weeping. Beneath the caricatures are the captions 'Napoleon Le Grand!!' and 'Napoléon Le Petit'. The costume of Napoleon III is lettered with the following words: 'Invasion No.III / 2Xbre 1851 / Mouchards / Cayenne / Wilhelmsoehe 1871. / Policiers / Lambessa / Corruption / Mexique / Voleur Assassin / Le Rhin.....à Reculons L'Empire C'est La Paix'. Each of the balls around Napoleon III's feet are lettered: 'Boulogne / Strasbourg / Vol Des 25,000,000 Banque De France / Sedan'. To the right is a post with 'Toulon' written on it. Print from a set of caricatures, broadsheets and illustrations in ten volumes. Each volume is half-bound in red leather, gold tooled and stamped with imperial emblems, title etc.
