Paolo Verzone (born 1967, Turin) is a photojournalist who lives in Paris and is part of the VU agency. His work in the mid-1990s in Peshawar, Pakistan focuses on city life. Employing interesting viewpoints, he creates dynamic images that challenge the viewer’s perspective. For example, in this image a typewriter is positioned on a window sill or balcony such that the viewer looks down on typing hands, but also the street below. Verzone successfully combines photojournalism and art photography and explores social and cultural themes with a systematic approach. He is also known for his portraiture practice.
