This Medallion Plaque is made by an unknown artist in the Netherlands in 1522.

It depicts in the centre the bust of Pope Adrian VI. To the right is his shield of arms and on the left that of the town of Utrecht.

Pope Adrian VI (1459-1523) was born Adriaan Florenszoon Boeyens in Utrecht. He was the last Pope of non-Italian origin until John Paul II, 456 years later.
