High waisted top probably worn by Anna Dawson. High waisted top of mauve satin with very low wide V neck to the back and front and long raglan sleeves cut into the neckline, ending in points at the cuff. At the front over the midriff, is a decorative panel, beaded and sequinned, from which hand strings of tiny beads ending in pale pink drop pearls; from either side of the panel are attached long sash ends. From the front waist hangs a long pointed panel; at the back is a similar panel split down the centre. All edges and front seams are trimmed with very narrow pink satin ribbon. The top fastens at the back to the waist with press studs.

Object history
Costume probably worn by Anna Dawson in the musical 'This Thing Called Love' performed at the Watermill Theatre, Newbury, September 1982. The music and lyrics were compiled by David Kernan & John Moffat from various authors and composers, and the show was produced by Wendy Toye. The costume were designed by Bill Gibb using silk presented by the European Commission for the Promotion of Silk.
