Percy Wyndham Lewis 1882-1957 Anthony About 1909 The Canadian-born Wyndham Lewis founded the semi-abstract Vorticist movement. Its members were fascinated by the energy of the machine. This work shows his own interest in African masks. Its title probably comes from Shakespeare's play Anthony and Cleopatra. Pen and ink and gouaches on paper Givenn by the family of Lionel Guy Baker, in accordance with his expressed wishes, 1919 Museum no. E.3778-1919
