Anthony
About 1909
The Canadian-born Wyndham Lewis founded the semi-abstract Vorticist movement. Its members were fascinated by the energy of the machine.
This work shows his own interest in African masks.
Its title probably comes from Shakespeare's play Anthony and Cleopatra.
