John Frederick Lewis 1804/5-1876 Esir Hani: The Slave Market in Istanbul 1840-41 The Slave Market was situated near the Grand Bazaar in the centre of the old city. The more expensive slaves were kept out of sight, inside the wooden booths of the dealers.
