Object history

The model, Elisabeth Willman Grabowska, appears in many of Gwen John's drawings. She lived in Paris but twice spent the summer at Pleneuf in the company of her mother and of Ruth Manson, and her daughter Rosamund.
This drawing was included in the Gwen John Memorial Exhibition at Messrs. Matthiesen, Ltd., London, 1946.
