This poster advertises a 1968 production of William Shakespeare's Macbeth. It was performed by the Columbia Shakespeare Workshop at Columbia University in New York City. During that year, Columbia University was the site of many student strikes, sit-ins and protests. This poster is evidence of some of the social and political activity: the Workshop donated its proceeds from the play to the Strike Committee.

The screenprint was probably made by a Columbia University student.
