Brief description
Brief shorts or trunks for a principal boy, made from crimson silk satin. Possibly worn by Clarice Conroy possibly as Aladdin or Sinbad, ca. 1890
Physical description
Crimson silk satin shorts decorated with vertical bands of gold metallic braid applique, formed into scrolling patterns and gold spangles. The shorts fasten at the proper left and proper right hip with a single metal button and are lined with unbleached linen.

BTMA note when the costume was acquired states that Mrs Langley Moore "was told that it had been worn by an actress by the name of Conroy, possibly called Clarice Conroy, a well-known Principal Boy of the 1890s, when playing "Aladdin" or "Sinbad"."
