Object history | One of three photographs relating to Rosa Wallis, a student at the South Kensington Schools of Art and Design and who later trained at the Manchester Royal School of Art. She was the daughter of George Wallis, Keeper of the Art Collection of the South Kensington Museum (now the V&A), from 1858 to 1891. During her youth, Wallis resided with her family at 4, The Residences, dedicated accommodations for South Kensington Museum senior staff. Sometime in the 1880s she and her sister moved out into their own accommodations where it is supposed these photographs were made. |
