Inscribed in brown ink: at lower right (with the museum’s Dyce inv. no.), 541; and at lower right, 46.
Gallery label
David Teniers the Younger was one of the most famous Golden Age painters of peasant life. He specialised in scenes of tavern interiors and village life. He probably made this sketchy drawing with the intention of using the view as the background to one of his genre paintings.(29/04/2016)
