Object history
Dress for Melisande worn by Nina de Silva? in Maurice Maeterlinck's play 'Pelleas and Melisande' performed at the Lyceum Theatre, London, 11th July (matinee) 1911. The play was translated by J W Mackall, and was performed by the Martin Harvey Company. The scenery was designed by George J Dodson, and the music was composed by Gabriel Fauré. The costume designer was not credited.
Mrs Patrick Campbell played Melisande for the three London matinees of this production. Although Nina de Silva does not list Melisande among her roles in Who's Who in the Theatre, she does seem to have played the role with the company on tour.
