Place of origin

Wool embroidery on canvas in cross stitch. The design shows a series of six groups of flowers, each set in an irregular roundel, and arranged in two rows. The ground of the roundels is white.
All around and between the roundels, and forming a kind of border round the whole, is a mass of heavy curling foliage of acanthus or cabbage type.
The ground all round the edge is filled in with black and a narrow black fringe trims the absolute edge.
