Physical description

Costume for Jesus worn by Paul Nicholas.
Full length straight cut robe of cream rayon linen weave, with wide rounded low neck and full length sleeves cut in one with the body. The lower edge is fringed, and there are side slits to mid calf height.

Object history note

This costume was worn by Paul Nicholas as Christ in the London premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar', Palace Theatre, 9th August 1972. The production was directed by Jim Sharman, the scenery was designed by Brian Thomson, and the costumes were designed by Gabriella Falk.
