Object history
Full length Edwardian evening dress worn in an unidentified production for the John Martin Harvey company. The dress has been suggested as Jean Cadell's costume for Miss Havisham in 'The Convict', Westminster Theatre, 4th February 1935 - but Martin Harvey was only a guest for this production - Westminster Theatre produced and provided costumes. The dress could possibly be for 'The Scapegoat', Martin Harvey's touring version of the same play, but it seems the wrong fit and style for Lady Martin Harvey as Miss Havisham.
