Garter thrown to the audience by Julia Mackenzie as Adelaide in the National Theatre production of the musical Guys and Dolls, 1982. Sugar pink narrow ribbon backed with black tape garter, edged with black lace. Over fastening of two simulated sugar pink narrow ribbon bows. The garter is fastened with velcro under which is a circular weight on the inside edge.

Object history
This garter was used in the famous National Theatre production of the Loesser, Swerling & Burrows musical 'Guys and Dolls', at the Olivier Theatre, 9th March 1982. The production was directed by Richard Eyre, the sets were designed by John Gunter, and the costumes were designed by Sue Blane.

The garter was purchased by Jennifer Aylmer from the Theatrical Garden Party on 29th August 1982.
