Object history
Acquisition type: Gift
Production
Acquired as Septfontaines (Luxembourg), late 18th century; examined by Jean-Luc Mousset (January 2000), who considered it 'not Septfontaines', noting that the form and moulded borders are unknown in Septfontaines creamware, and suggesting an attribution to Northern France, perhaps Douai. Examined by Tom Walford, March 2004, who suggested an attribution to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and who showed a piece of the same shape with English enamelled and gilt decoration). Examined by Christian Maire November 2004, who considered it 'not French'.
