Object history
Acquisition type: Gift
Production
Acquired as Chantilly, late 18th century; re-dated ca. 1780, which may be regarded as a little early as production of faience fine is not recorded at Chantilly before 1786 (2004). Examined November 2004 by Christian Maire and Antoinette Faÿ-Hallé, Director of the Musée National de Céramique, who considered it Chantilly but suggested a date around 1760 (and who queried whether the gilding and mark was original or a later addition).
