Production
Probably 19th century; acquired as Rouen, mid-18th century. For Rouen and Quimper examples of this design, see Dorothée Guillemé Brulon, Paris & Rouen - Sources et rayonnement, Histoire de la Faïence Francaise, Paris, 1998, p. 42 and 55. The glaze of this piece is creamy and very different from the Rouen examples, and like the Quimper pieces is marked in black.
