About the database

Search the Collections is a working database that we are building continuously. You can search over a million records. Some records have minimal information; others are very detailed. Some have high quality photographs; some have more basic images; others have yet to be photographed.

The database is updated regularly.

Why are there only 1 million records when the V&A's collection has more than that number of objects in its collection?

The V&A's collection also includes the National Art Library and the Archive of Art and Design, which are catalogued on the library database also available through the Museum website.
